One of the greatest pop punk albums of all time turns 15 this year. Simple Plan’s “No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls,” was an iconic album of the early 2000’s, and one that fans have far from forgot gotten about. In celebration of the album’s anniversary, Simple Plan has released a 15th Anniversary Edition of the album, which features 7 additional tracks, including two live performances.

To coincide with the release of the album, Simple Plan will be touring and playing the album live in its entirety. The band will be in Australia performing shows in Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales at the end of April.

Simple Plan went from Canadian pop-punkers to mainstream hit makers with this notable album. Teen comedy films of the early 2000s helped to put Simple Plan on the grid. Their songs were featured in a number of movies, including The New Guy, The Hot Chick, and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Although these movies helped to push the band forward, it was Simple Plan's job to keep their audience rocking after the movie was over, and with their 15th Anniversary Edition album just released, it’s safe to say they have succeeded.

The album features several hits that remain some of Simple Plan’s most well-known songs. “I’m Just A Kid” is one of the band’s signature songs. The track blew up, as it was one all of their fans and followers of the time could relate to. As a teenager in the pop-punk era, getting denied a date with your crush felt like the world was coming to an end. Every new day beat out the day before for worst day ever, and that’s what this song stood for. Each individual fan felt like this song was their song, and even after the hype died down, “I’m Just A Kid” is one of those throwback songs we bump and reminisce to whenever it comes on.

“Addicted” showcases what Simple Plan does best: create head banging music with a catchy chorus that will be in your head for days, and a guitar solo you wish you could play.

Something came over those head-banger fans when they first heard “Perfect.” Although “Perfect” is a slower, more dramatic punk ballad, it remains Simple Plan’s number two most streamed song on Spotify. This is a song about family drama that everyone goes crazy for. In between the soft harmonious versus there are spurts of that signature punk-guitar sound and exploding drum breaks, making “Perfect” a song in which everyone can find something they like, which explains why the song is still such an anthem.

The album peaked at #8 on the Canadian Albums chart and was certified double platinum. In Australia the album reached #29 with a platinum certification.
